You Will Need

  • $20 one-time fee for dev account access

  • A PS2 ISO for the game that your mod is for (ESPN NFL Football or ESPN NFL 2K5)

  • PS2 BIOS File

  • USB Drive with >10GB of free space


Install & Configure Dev Mode

Before you get started, you must first setup Dev Mode on your Xbox. This will cost you $20 if you live in the U.S., but thankfully it is a one-time fee.

  1. Sign up here

  2. Search the store on your Xbox for Xbox Dev Mode

  3. Download the Dev Mode app and launch it

  4. In the bottom-right of your screen, write down your IP Address

  5. On your PC or Mac, enter the IP Address in the URL of your browser

  6. Go to Device Portal >> Settings >> Preference

  7. Change Default Home Experience to Retail Home

  8. Press Restart Later

  9. Check the Treat UWP apps as games by default

  10. Press Restart Now to apply the changes


Install the Apps

Next steps are to install the two apps that you will need to play the mod itself. Use the builds that are included in this download. Do NOT use an updated build of AetherSX2.

  1. Download the Dev Mode Apps in the link above this article


SafeExit

  1. Select Add then Choose File

  2. Navigate to your Apps download folder, open the Safe Exit folder

  3. Select Safe.Exit.Icon.appx

  4. Press Next

  5. In the dependencies window, select Choose File

  6. Add each dependency from your Safe Exit/Dependencies folder one by one until all 3 are in

  7. Press Start


Aethersx2

  1. Select Add again then Choose File

  2. Navigate to your Apps download folder, open the PS2 folder

  3. Select AetherSX2

  4. Press Next

  5. There are no dependencies for this, so press Start


Setup the USB Drive

  1. Plug your USB stick into your PC/Mac

  2. Download the latest version of the mod in the link above this article

  3. Extract the contents of the download to your USB stick

  4. Drag your BIOS file(s) into the BIOS folder

  5. Drag your ISO into the Games folder

  6. Unplug your USB from your PC and plug it into your Xbox Series X|S

  7. Select Use for Media



Configure AethersX2

This last section explains how to configure your AetherSX2 program to read the correct directories from your USB.

  1. Select My Games and Apps

  2. Open AetherSX2

  3. Go to Settings


BIOS Settings

  1. Press RB to tab over to the BIOS Settings and select Change Search Directory

  2. Select Parent Directory until you see your USB Drive Letter (mine is E)

  3. Select your USB Drive >> PS2 >> BIOS

  4. Select Use This Directory

  5. Select BIOS Selection

  6. Choose the BIOS you want to activate


Graphics Settings

  1. Press RB twice to tab over to Graphics Settings

  2. Set Sync to Host Refresh (VSync) to On

  3. Change Aspect Ratio to 16:9

  4. Set Enable Widescreen Patches to True

  5. Change Internal Resolution to 6x (if you are on Xbox Series X) or 4x (if you are on Xbox Series S)

  6. Set Load Textures to True

  7. Set Asynchronous Textures Loading to False

  8. Select Replacements Directory

  9. Select Parent Directory until you see your USB Drive Letter (mine is E)

  10. Select your USB Drive >> PS2 >> Mods >> The Mod You Downloaded >> textures

  11. Select Use This Directory


Memory Card Settings

  1. Press RB twice to tab over to Memory Card Settings

  2. Select Memory Card Directory

  3. Select Parent Directory until you see your USB Drive Letter (mine is E)

  4. Select your USB Drive >> PS2 >> Mods >> The Mod You Downloaded >> memcards

  5. Select Use This Directory

  6. Under Console Port 1, select Card Enabled

  7. Select The Mod You Downloaded.ps2


Launch the Game

  1. Return to the homescreen of AethersX2

  2. Select Start File

  3. Select Parent Directory until you see your USB Drive Letter (mine is E)

  4. Select your USB Drive >> PS2 >> Games >> ESPN NFL Football.ISO for NFL 4K24, ESPN NFL 2K5.ISO for all others

  5. Enjoy :)
